As we came over the hill 6d saw the glistening water gently moving. It was the 10th of February and 6d was heading to Howick beach for their first water wise session. I got out of the waka van. A few people were already there because they went in parents cars. We were all so excited about water wise and Mrs. Martin was too!
Finally everyone had arrived at Howick beach and we could all get started. I raced towards the life jacket line I was near the back but I didn’t mind at all. After about three minutes of waiting I was suffering from not being able to breath! Luckily that only lasted about 10 seconds. Running we all got back to our seats and listened to Mr. Nickels lloonngg speech. During the speech I learnt that we needed to keep our lifejackets on at all times unless we were told to take them off. We also learnt some parts of the optimist.
After the safety speech we were given a piece of rope each. Next we were taught two knots that will be useful in and on the optimist I mastered both of the knots quite quickly. Soon after we tied the knots we went home. What fun we all had!
